Bringing people together through Music

About

Palanka is an international collaborative movement

…created in 2012 by Ethnomusicologist and Producer Ons Barnat. Inspired by initiatives such as Playing for Change or Nomadic Wax, this musical globe-trotter decided to use a mobile recording studio to produce some of the talented musicians and singers that he met during his travels.

Using only a laptop linked with an external sound recorder, Ons Barnat started this project on a Tanzanian beach, in the island of Zanzibar, where he met an artist named Major Drummer, from the local band Masalad. Together they did a recording session in a beach hut on January 2012, where they recorded the song “Sina Sera” (“No Policy”).

In the next years, Ons Barnat did other Nomadic Recording Sessions in Ecuador, California, Danmark, France, Tunisia, Canada, Colombia, Kenya and Peru.
